tumblr developers cranking it into overdrive to make sure one of the few unique and usable social media sites remaining becomes a half-formed failed homunculus clone of tiktok like every other fucking website
it’s funny to me how the logic behind tumblr’s new layout changes are to coddle potential new users, to make them feel more comfortable by giving them a layout that’s more familiar to navigate
…..by making the CURRENT users feel LESS comfortable by giving them a layout that’s LESS familiar to navigate.
they’re prioritizing a hypothetical scenario over their established, existing userbase, some of which (like me) who have been here for 10+ years
after seeing this desktop redesign, i have a feeling they’re just going to copy Twitter’s Quote RT system for the new “collapsible reblogs” which would suck for a variety of reasons, not least because it would really harm the atmosphere of the site that I’ve grown to love over the last decade
i definitely think minecraft won’t be the game for everyone in the end and that’s just how things are no problem but i do think *some* people who don’t get the hype of it just need to play with their friends and build a house with them. its also for doing things like this.
